2 April 1982: Enemy troops from Argentina arrive in the Falkland Islands and fly their country’s flag.
3 April: The island of South Georgia is occupied by Argentinean forces.
4 April: The warship ‘HMS Conqueror’ sets sale from Faslane.
5 April: The warships HMS Invincible and HMS Hermes depart from Portsmouth docks bound for San Carlos Bay in the Falklands.
9 April: The ship Canberra leaves from Southampton with British troops onboard, including 3 Para and 40, 42 and 45 Royal Marine Commandos.
11 April: The submarines HMS Spartan and HMS Splendid close in on the Falkland Islands.
12 April: A 200-mile Exclusion Zone around the Falkland Islands is announced by the British Government in London. Meanwhile, ships including the destroyer Antrim and Plymouth the frigate set sail with M Company, 42 Commando on board in a bid to South Georgia from the Argentines.
14 April: The South Georgia Task Force meet up and plot their attack on the enemy.
18 April: The Task Force moves away from Ascension.
21/22 April: SAS men are dropped into South Georgia to begin the attack, however are quickly removed.
25 April: SAS and Royal Marine men recapture South Georgia from the Argentine forces.
26 April: The Argentine troops formally surrender at South Georgia.
1 May: The Exclusion Zone is entered by the Task Force, while the Port Stanley runway is attacked by a vulcan bomber called Black Buck. 1 May was also the day of the first Harrier air assaults on Argentinean strongholds. SAS and SBS men arrive on the islands.
2 May: The Argentine ship known as the General Belgrano is sunk by British ship HMS Conqueror.
4 May: HMS Sheffield is lost after being hit by an Exocet missile fired by the Argentines. 20 British men are killed.
12 May: The QE2 departs from Southampton with the Fifth Army Brigade on board. Meanwhile, an Argentine bomb disables HMS Glasgow.
14 May: Pebble Island is raided by SAS men.
19 May: The SAS loses 21 men after a helicopter crashes into the sea.
21 May: San Carlos Bay sees the first landings of the British Task Force, with the Royal Marines and Paras arriving along with supplies. The warship HMS Ardent is lost.
23 May: The ship HMS Antelope is lost.
24 May: The ships Sir Lancelot and Sir Galahad are hit by Argentine bombs, however the bombs do not explode.
25 May: Atlantic Conveyor hit by a flying Exocet missile, HMS Coventry lost and HMS Broadsword disabled.
27 May: Attacks on Goose Green and Darwin begin.
28 May: Argentine troops surrender to 2 Para at Goose Green. The Atlantic Conveyor sank.
30 May: Teal Inlet is reached by 3 Para and 45 Commando while Mount Kent is captured by 42 Commando and SAS.
2 June: 2 Para is carried by air to Fitzroy.
8 June: Bluff Cove is the scene for the destroying of Sir Galahad, with numerous men from the Welsh Guards killed or injured.
11/12 June: Attacks are carried out by the British Task Force on Mount Longdon, Two Sisters and Mount Harriet.
13/14 June: Mount Tumbledown and Wireless Ridge are attacked by the British Task Force. 14 June: Argentine troops announce their surrender.
13 July: The Argentine Government agrees to call and end to the conflict.
