Military Commanders of World War Two

The majority of the commanders who took part in the battles of World War Two were career officers with military experience. However, they were frequently expected to adapt to new technologies used by all sides, and as such are believed to have had a huge impact on the outcome of the war.

There were also many military commanders who simultaneously acted as both supreme commanders of their forces while maintaining their position as a dictator in their own country. These include some of the best known contributors to the war, Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.
